Richard Hugo House - April 14 to May 19 (6 Saturdays) - 10am to 12noon
This is a supportive, inspiring environment in which to explore and develop your ideas for a children’s picture book. Perhaps you want more books supporting your child’s LGBTQ family environment. Maybe you’ve always wished that the books you grew up with reflected your experience of gender better (or at all), or shown you examples of LGBTQ protagonists. We’ll talk about the general form as well as how to make it a more inclusive one—looking at techniques, approaching some classics from a new angle, sharing our own favorites and trying things out in writing prompts. By the end you will have generated and workshopped the first draft of your own text.
