2013 Annual Conference
Autralian-born, New York-transplanted illustrator Sophie Blackall might be best known for her lovably quirky illustrations in the Ivy and Bean series of chapter books, or she might have flickered on in your consciousness when she won the coveted 2003 Ezra Jack Keats Award for illustrating Ruby's Wish (written by Shirin Yin Bridges, Chronicle Books, 2002). Either way, Sophie's special style is as whimsical and unique as her projects. Besides editorial illustrations for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, and Vogue, she has created animated TV commercials and characters for theme parks. Her most recent book is Missed Connections: Love Lost and Found (Workman Publishing, 2011).
