join us for the University of Washington Information School’s annual Spencer G. Shaw Lecture on Thursday, October 25.
This year’s lecture features Christopher Paul Curtis, award-winning
author of The Watsons Go to Birmingham—1963; Bud, Not Buddy; Mr. Chickee’s Funny Money; Mr. Chickee’s Messy Mission;
and Bucking the Sarge. His second novel Bud, Not Buddy is the first book ever to receive both the Newbery Medal and the Coretta Scott King Author Award.
Mr. Curtis will give a talk titled "How to Construct an Author."
The
Shaw Lecture Series spotlights literature and library service for
children and young adults. It honors beloved UW Information School
Professor
Emeritus Spencer G. Shaw, who was an internationally known librarian,
storyteller and teacher.
