Penguin House... Random Penguin...

Big to-dos in the book world today with the pending combination of Random House and Penguin. It's hard to say yet what the impact may be in the children's imprints, but often this sort of thing involves consolidation of marketing and/or editorial resources (and thus staff), as well as alignment of contracts over time.

A letter to authors today suggests that no impacts on editorial/working relationships should be expected, though. Sounds like the deal won't close for a while, anyway. Stay tuned.
