Great article! It really lays out the challenge we face as authors and consumers. How do we stand up to the bully when the bully is responsible for 75% of our sales? Yes, we must support our independent booksellers, but it's going to take more than that to create a fair playing field.

Thank you for posting the link. I had the good fortune to intern at the Boston Review one summer during college. Reading this took me back to those rickety stairs in Chinatown where much of the day I sat reading the slushpile.

It certainly is a conundrum for us all! Why isn't there more competition out there for Amazon? Other places strong enough to sell our books and ebooks without the intense pressure on publishers? Yes to supporting independent booksellers. And I understand readers want to be able to buy books at the click of a button. Maybe there will be more online options in future. I hope so.
