Conference faculty profile: Renata Liwska

Renata Liwska, the acclaimed illustrator of ONCE UPON A MEMORY, THE QUIET BOOK, and THE LOUD BOOK as well as the author/illustrator of LITTLE PANDA and THE RED WAGON, will be one of three keynote speakers at SCBWI Western Washington's 23rd Annual Writing and Illustrating for Children conference, which will be held April 12-13, 2014, at the Marriott Redmond Town Center. Renata's ONCE UPON A MEMORY (written by local author Nina Laden) was released in December. It was selected as an Amazon book of the month and received a starred review from Kirkus. THE QUIET BOOK and THE LOUD BOOK were both New York Times bestsellers and Junior Library Guild Selections. THE QUIET BOOK also won a 2010 Society of Illustrators Gold Medal. THE RED WAGON received starred reviews from Booklist and Kirkus. Renata has drawn all her life; you can catch some glimpses of her amazing sketchbooks on her website and learn about other books she’s illustrated at her blog.
