Parkplace Books: celebration before relocation

The beloved bookstore in Kirkland invites one and all to their annual holiday bash, this coming Saturday!


To all the wonderful authors
        that have supported us over the last 29 years, 
     we wish to say thanks and invite you to our (last?)
                    ANNUAL HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE PARTY
               Friday, December 4th     7:00 – 9:00 pm
 
“Tis the season and you are invited to our last *(in this location) Holiday Bash and Benefit!
Please join us for an evening of merriment and good cheer as we celebrate the holiday season.
Munch on tasty goodies and imbibe in wassail while you visit with friends, customers and fellow authors.
Tap your toes to jazzy Holiday music by Ostgard and Allen. 
 
Gift a Book or Food item!
Donate any new children’s book to Santa’s Sleigh or food item in the Gift. 
Attain Housing will distribute these items to Eastside families in need. 
Remember, your donation can make a difference.

*Due to the upcoming renovation of Parkplace Center,
we will be closing our current doors on December 24th.
Our hoped for move to a new location is still in the works

Inside Story is coming



'Tis the season...for Inside Story!


The Fall 2014 Inside Story will take place at Parkplace Books (348 Parkplace Center, Kirkland, WA 98033) on November 4 at 7:00 PM.

We hold this celebration twice a year for booksellers, librarians, teachers, and other children's book lovers so you can hear the "stories behind the stories" of new and upcoming books by our local authors and illustrators.
The following authors and illustrators will present their new books:

Parkplace Books 25th Anniversary Celebration Party

Please join Parkplace Books, on Friday, May 20, 6-9 p.m. for an evening of merriment as they celebrate 25 years of bookselling, author events, bookclubs, school bookfairs, community gatherings...and just the sheer love of reading.

Mingle with fellow authors, friends and customers of the bookstore, and indulge in delicious goodies, refreshing spirits, and a scrumptious Anniversary cake. They will be offering a 25% store wide sale throughout the evening and two gift Book Baskets will be raffled, raising money for Page Ahead Children's Literacy Program and Hopelink.

Holly Cupala's Book Bash!!

Local SCBWI member, and former Assistant Regional Advisor, Holly Cupala is holding her very first public TELL ME A SECRET bash this Saturday, December 4, at 6 p.m. at Kirkland Parkplace Books. Join her for an evening of music that inspired the book, story secrets, tasty morsels from "Cafe Shiraz" (the restaurant in the book, of course!), and more yummy treats.

They will also be launching a very secret project with the talents of award-winning actress Jenna Lamia (known for reading THE CHOSEN ONE, THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES, THE HELP, and others): a special edition audiobook recording of the novel available to pre-order at the party (the free serialized podcast version is available here. Ten percent of the evening's proceeds will go to World Vision's Hope for Sexually Exploited Girls. Invite your friends, and we hope to see you!

Janet Lee Carey Book Launch

Janet Lee Carey is celebrating the release of THE DRAGONS OF NOOR! The dragons are already flying into bookstores and libraries, landing on shelves and neatly tucking themselves in with their green spines showing.

SCBWI friends are all invited to the Masquerade Book Launch Party with music, masks, dancing & dining this Saturday October 23 7-9 p.m. at Parkplace Books .
