Good News & Reviews for Stephanie Barden!

Woohoo & Good news for Stephanie Barden! There's lovely write up in the latest issue of Notes from the Horn Book for Stephanie's new book CINDERELLA SMITH (in the Chapter Books for Young Readers section). Here's what they have to say:

The eponymous main character of Cinderella Smith by Stephanie Barden is a bouncy, entertainingly dramatic (she says, “Alas” a lot) young girl with a penchant for losing shoes—here, a special ruby-red tap shoe that she needs to play the Pumpkin Blossom Fairy in her dance recital. If she can’t find the shoe, it’s so long, solo. Cinderella’s energy, captured expertly in illustrator Diane Goode’s emotive line drawings, is infectious; readers will delight in her expressions (e.g., dribbly-spit for Seattle drizzle) and enthusiastic use of adverbs and will look forward to Cinderella’s next appearance.

You can check out the latest issue here (and a big thanks to Wendy Wahman for sending the link).

You're Invited to Stephanie Barden's Book Launch Party!

All SCBWI members are invited to a Book Launch Celebration for Stephanie Barden’s CINDERELLA SMITH this Saturday April 30, from 2-4 p.m. {drop in for as long or as short as you’d like} at The Elliott Bay Book Company (1521 10^th Avenue).

There will be games & goodies galore! For more information on Stephanie, and her work, visit her super cute website.

Book Publicizing Websites

Thanks to Stephanie Barden for sending this information! Stephanie was looking for ways and places to publicize her up-coming book, and she came across two terrific websites.

The first is the Story Snoops website. It was started by a group of moms. They share children's book reviews from a parent's perspective. They have a fun search feature that allows you to identify tween and teen fiction for every type of reader. "Curious about content? Our book reviews will give you the scoop! We help you find fiction that fits."

The second is the Rat Chat Reviews website. "Stanley and Morris Rat" create darling animated video reviews of kids books -- they're the Ebert and Roper of Children's Literature!

Very fun stuff to check out! Stephanie's debut book CINDERELLA SMITH comes out this spring, April 26!! You can find out more about her new book at her website.
