Mark your calendars for Write-O-Rama Dec. 7

Hugo House, Seattle's only entire building devoted to writers and writing, will hold its next fundraising (and motivation-raising) Write-O-Rama on Saturday, December 7.

This event is a great way to play musical chairs with writing instructors, creative ideas, skills, genres, and techniques, experimenting all day long and pumping up your creative muscles for a good cause. Consider giving it to yourself as a pre-holiday gift. Click here for all the details.

Wendy Wahman's Mitten Drive

Great news from Wendy Wahman, illustrator of the forthcoming Snowboy 1, 2, 3, which was written by her husband, Joe Wahman.

She writes:

We're having a mitten drive to celebrate the launch of the book. Your mittens will be delivered to kids who will need them this winter. Please send new or lightly worn children's mittens to:

Snowboy
1719 126th Ave. S.E.
Bellevue, WA 98005

Or bring them to Thursday's PSM meeting at Seattle Pacific University, or to the book launch event at Secret Garden Books on Tuesday, from 6:30-8:30pm. Joe will be setting the words of the book to music, for your additional entertainment!

Please forward to all who might like to donate or spread the word about our mitten drive.
I'll be bringing this flyer, plus a basket for donations to events and SCBWI meetings until Dec. 1st.

Thanks,
Wendy

But wait! There's more!

Wendy will also be showcasing her talents at this weekend's Sammamish Arts Fair, doing art with kids and reading from her books, and painting faces this Saturday from 1-3pm.

Participate in Page Ahead Fundraiser Wednesday by Dining Out

Going out to eat this Wednesday? You can dine out and help Page Ahead at the same time!! Page Ahead's fundraiser is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28.

Page Ahead is Washington state's leading provider of children's literacy programs, serving 55,000 kids. Local restaurants will donate a percentage of sales tomorrow for Dish Up Literacy. Fellow SCBWI WWA member Julie Reinhardt's restaurant, Smokin' Pete's BBQ, is participating as well as locales in the greater Seattle area.

It's an easy fundraiser - all folks have to do is go out and eat! For the full list of restaurants and more information about Dish Up Literacy, go to their website.
